MLP: Lucent

Luna in Nightmare Moon's armor. Make of that what you will.

So! This was an extended study in several things that I had little or no experience in: non-standard pose, combining elements from various reference shots, adapting lighting to several material types, lighting on odd shapes (and colored lighting, to boot), stylized lots of things, trying to work on so many things without reference shots...

It was a lot.

So to say that I learned a great deal would be an understatement, and I fell short on several things. It's never going to be perfect, however, and I think this is done in its current form. You can see the various iterations of this painting in my scrapbook, ye six people who will view this image, if you're curious.

The stars in her hair were at one point somewhat accurate, but after I decided to go Starry Night with it, I had to move a number the constellations around to fit, and so almost none of them make sense anymore. Alas. Also, for you ornithologists, I did not paint her with alulas. Sorry.

Done in Paint Tool SAI with a Wacom Bamboo Pen over... too many hours to count.
